Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Ertiga Get 6 Airbags Standard With Small Price Hike

Starting July 16, 2025, Maruti Suzuki has made a big safety update. The popular Baleno and Ertiga will now come with 6 airbags as standard. That means every variant, from base to top, will have better safety. This is part of the company’s promise to offer 6 airbags in all its cars.

Earlier, only the top variants of the Baleno (Zeta and Alpha) had 6 airbags. Now, even the entry-level Sigma and Delta trims get them. Same goes for the Ertiga, which now has this safety upgrade across the board.

With this move, Maruti Suzuki is making sure safety is not just for the expensive models. It’s now for everyone.

Price Hike is Small, But Worth It

Of course, this upgrade comes with a small price bump.

  • For the Baleno, the price will go up by about 0.5%.
  • For the Ertiga, the increase is around 1.4%.

The exact new prices have not been shared yet, but Maruti says the hike will be minor compared to the added safety.

Baleno Safety & Features

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno now comes packed with:

  • 6 airbags
  • ESP (Electronic Stability Program)
  • Hill hold assist
  • Brake assist
  • 3-point seat belts for all passengers with reminders

Baleno recently scored 4 stars in the Bharat NCAP crash test for the variant with 6 airbags. Now that all trims have the same, the whole range gets that safety level.

Ertiga Still Under Watch

The Ertiga is also upgraded with 6 airbags on all variants. But unlike Baleno, Ertiga is yet to be tested by Bharat NCAP. Earlier, the Global NCAP test of the South African version made in India gave it just 1 star. Hopefully, the new safety upgrade will improve its score when tested again.

Engine Details Remain the Same

Mechanically, nothing changes.

  • Baleno has a 1.2-litre petrol engine making 90 hp. It comes with a 5-speed manual and AMT, and there’s also a CNG version.
  • Ertiga uses a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine that gives 103 bhp and 139 Nm of torque. It also has petrol and CNG options.

This update is not just a checkbox feature. It’s about giving Indian families more protection on the road. Maruti Suzuki is taking steps in the right direction. Safety should never be optional, and this change proves that even budget cars can be safe.
