Rishabh Pant is known for his explosive batting, especially in Test cricket. However, his performance in IPL 2025 has been disappointing so far. Despite his high standards, he has struggled to maintain a good strike rate in T20 cricket.
Pant, who was bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a record ₹27 crore in the IPL mega auction, has had a rough start. In his first two matches, he scored a six-ball duck against Delhi Capitals and then managed only 15 runs off 15 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). His slow batting frustrated fans, especially since other LSG players like Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh were scoring at a much faster rate.

One sports presenter on a popular Indian YouTube channel was so upset with Pant’s performance that he lost his temper during a live broadcast. In a furious rant, he criticized Pant’s captaincy and batting, saying, “You cannot trust him. What sort of a captain is he? We don’t need a captain like him!” He then threw objects at the TV screen, knocking over a glass table and damaging studio equipment.
While Pant has not been at his best, LSG still managed to defeat SRH by five wickets with 23 balls to spare. However, his struggles with both the bat and captaincy have sparked intense criticism from fans and analysts.
