Team India has started their journey in the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) with a bang! They defeated England by a massive 336 runs at Edgbaston on Sunday — their biggest overseas Test win ever in terms of runs.
This was also India’s first-ever Test match win at Edgbaston, and it helped them earn 12 points in the WTC table. With this win, India now shares third place in the standings with England, both having a 50% points percentage (PCT). The series between India and England is now tied 1-1, as India bounced back after losing the first Test at Headingley.
Australia currently tops the WTC standings with a perfect 100% PCT. They have already won their series against the West Indies 2-0, with one game left.

Sri Lanka is in second place with 66.67% PCT after winning one match and drawing another in their series against Bangladesh. Bangladesh sits at fifth with a 16.67% PCT after that series loss.
West Indies are in sixth place, having lost both matches to Australia, while New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa are yet to play their first matches in this WTC cycle.
The next match between India and England — the third Test — will be played at Lord’s on July 10. India will look to keep their momentum going with captain Shubman Gill leading from the front and Jasprit Bumrah set to return. The outcome of this Test will play an important role in shaping the early WTC leaderboard.
