Bollywood star Aamir Khan has officially confirmed that work on the sequel to his hit 1999 film ‘Sarfarosh’ has begun. The announcement was made during the Bollywood Hungama Style Icons Summit, where he shared that ‘Sarfarosh 2’ is currently in development.
Aamir explained that making a sequel should only happen if there’s a strong reason and a great story behind it. He said, “We are currently working on ‘Sarfarosh 2’. But unless the script turns out really well, it wouldn’t be right to go ahead with it.” He added that films like Sarfarosh and Andaaz Apna Apna are special and shouldn’t be continued just for the sake of it.
About the Original ‘Sarfarosh’
Released in 1999 and directed by John Matthew Matthan, Sarfarosh was a big success, both critically and commercially. In the film, Aamir played ACP Ajay Singh Rathod, a brave police officer fighting against cross-border terrorism. Sonali Bendre played the female lead in the movie.
Aamir Khan’s Upcoming Film
Apart from Sarfarosh 2, Aamir Khan is also busy with another film titled ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, which will hit theatres on June 20, 2025. In this comedy-drama, Aamir will be seen as a fun-loving and confident coach. The film is directed by R. S. Prasanna and is co-produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit.
Fans of Aamir Khan and Sarfarosh are now eagerly waiting to see how the story continues in the much-anticipated sequel.
