August 2 is a special day for Amitabh Bachchan and his fans. It marks the day when he survived a life-threatening accident on the sets of his film ‘Coolie’ in 1982. How the Accident Happened
The accident occurred during an action scene with actor Puneet Issar. Though the rehearsals went well, during the actual take, a punch accidentally hit Amitabh badly and caused serious internal injuries.
In a recent interview, Puneet Issar recalled the moment and how deeply affected he was. He said:
“Mr. Bachchan asked to meet me at the hospital. I was in tears. I kept thinking it was all my fault. But he told me, ‘Puneet, it’s not your fault. Accidents happen during action scenes.’”
Bachchan even shared with Puneet a similar story where Vinod Khanna got hurt during a shoot with him. He explained that such accidents are unfortunate but common in action scenes.
