Indian cricketer R Ashwin has shared his views on Rishabh Pant’s performance in the first Test against England. Pant impressed everyone by scoring centuries in both innings during the match in Leeds. Despite his brilliant batting, India lost the match by five wickets.
Speaking on his YouTube channel Ash Ki Baat, Ashwin praised Pant’s incredible skills and strong batting technique. He said, “Rishabh has every shot in the book and played really well.” However, Ashwin had a small suggestion: next time Pant scores a century, he should try to convert it into a double century.

Ravi Ashwin who is test legend and great analyst of game has plenty of words for Rishabh pant’s 2 century
-But our coach Mr Gambhir got angry 😡 as soon as he listened name of pant
I am thinking what if this century came under Ravi shastri coaching pic.twitter.com/0WSeM4Snsy

“If I were Gautam Gambhir or Shubman Gill, I’d tell Pant, ‘You’ve batted amazingly. But can you aim for 200 when you reach 130 next time?’” Ashwin said. He also mentioned that the lower-order batsmen may not add many runs, so it’s important for Pant to bat longer and take the team to a stronger position.
Meanwhile, Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir didn’t seem too impressed by individual performances. When asked about Pant’s back-to-back centuries, Gambhir replied sharply, “There are three more centuries as well. Those are big positives too. Thank you.”|
When questioned further, Gambhir added, “There were hundreds from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill (on his captaincy debut), KL Rahul, and two from Rishabh. Scoring five centuries in a match is a good start. Hopefully, the question could have been framed better.”
The second Test will be played in Birmingham from July 2, and fans are eager to see how Team India responds.
