BSNL has finally stepped into the 5G arena—and it’s doing it differently. On Wednesday, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited officially launched its 5G brand name: Q-5G, short for Quantum 5G. Along with the name, BSNL also introduced its new SIM-less Quantum 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service for enterprises.
This isn’t just another 5G pitch. It’s BSNL’s bold comeback—and it starts at just ₹999/month.

What is BSNL Q-5G?
BSNL made the announcement on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating that the name “Q-5G” was crowdsourced from citizens. The name was chosen to reflect the “power, speed, and future” of its upcoming 5G services.
But Q-5G isn’t just a name. It marks the start of BSNL’s tech-forward push. And the biggest highlight? The Quantum 5G FWA—India’s first 5G Fixed Wireless Access that works without a SIM card or wires.
Who Is It For?
The Quantum 5G FWA is not for regular mobile users. It’s aimed at enterprises and businesses looking for fast, stable, and wireless internet. BSNL is positioning it as an internet lease line over 5G, perfect for office setups and enterprise-grade networks.
And it’s built using homegrown technology—a proud moment for India’s digital infrastructure.

What Do You Get for ₹999?
For ₹999/month, businesses get high-speed 5G data access without voice services. It’s data-only, and it’s designed for pure speed. The SIM-less setup makes it more flexible, reducing physical dependencies.
This makes BSNL the first Indian operator to offer such a solution—a big win for ‘Digital India’ goals.
The Bigger Picture
This move comes just days after BSNL invited public suggestions for naming its 5G service. The telco is clearly listening—and moving fast.
BSNL is also improving its 4G infrastructure, having installed 1 lakh 4G towers. Another 1 lakh are being planned soon. Union Minister Dr. Chandrasekhar Pemmasani recently said the Department of Telecommunications will soon approach the Cabinet for approval to expand further.
BSNL is also planning to boost cash flow by monetising its assets and investing more into 4G and 5G equipment.
Final Word
BSNL might have entered the 5G race late, but it’s playing it smart. With Quantum 5G FWA, it’s targeting high-value business users first. The SIM-less approach is fresh, futuristic, and proudly desi.
It’s not just a network upgrade. It’s a statement.
