Flight Cancellations at Delhi Airport Amid India-Pak Tension

Nearly 100 flights were cancelled at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Sunday due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Between 5:00 am and 4:30 pm, 52 domestic departures, 44 domestic arrivals, and one international flight were cancelled, according to sources.

Airport Closures Due to Security Measures

As a safety precaution, around 32 airports in northern and western India were temporarily shut down. These steps were taken after a recent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, where both countries agreed to stop all military actions by land, air, and sea.

Despite the cancellations, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), which manages IGIA, said the airport is still working normally. However, they warned that increased security checks and airspace rules might lead to more changes in flight schedules and longer wait times at security points.

Important Advice for Travelers

To help passengers during this time, DIAL shared the following travel tips:

  • Stay Updated: Check your flight status regularly on the airline’s website or the official Delhi Airport website.
  • Reach Early: Get to the airport well in advance to avoid delays at security.
  • Follow Rules: Stick to baggage limits and security instructions.
  • Be Cooperative: Help airline and security staff to make the process smoother.
  • Don’t Spread Rumors: Trust only official updates and avoid sharing unverified news.

These steps are being taken to ensure the safety and smooth travel of all passengers during this tense situation.
