Two American aid workers were hurt on Saturday in a suspected grenade attack at a food distribution centre in southern Gaza. The attack happened at a humanitarian aid site run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) in Khan Yunis, during a food distribution drive.
The GHF, supported by the United States and Israel, said the attack took place at their SDS-3 site right after food was successfully given out to thousands of people in need. The two injured workers are in stable condition and their injuries are not life-threatening.|

According to reports, two attackers threw grenades at the American workers. GHF suspects that Hamas may be behind the attack, but investigations are still going on. In a statement to the media, the organization said:
“This morning, two American aid workers were injured in a targeted terrorist attack during food distribution activities at SDS-3 in Khan Yunis. Early signs suggest Hamas was responsible.”
GHF said it had earlier warned about possible threats from Hamas, and this attack sadly confirms those fears. Despite this incident, GHF will continue its aid work in Gaza.

The organization started operations in May 2024, after Israel stopped working with the UN agency for Palestinian refugees. Since then, GHF has been providing food and essential supplies to people affected by the war.
However, their work hasn’t been easy. There have been many reports of Israeli forces firing on people waiting in line for food, and the UN says over 500 people have been killed while queuing for aid. Israel blames Hamas for the violence around these aid distribution sites.
GHF stressed that Saturday’s attack is a reminder of the dangerous conditions in Gaza and the risks faced by humanitarian workers.
