India is currently experiencing a rise in Covid-19 cases, with the total number of active cases nearing 6,500. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there are 6,491 active cases across the country.

Kerala is the worst-affected state, reporting 1,957 active cases and seven new infections in the last 24 hours. A new Covid variant called XFG, which is a descendant of the Omicron subvariant, has been detected in India. This variant was first identified in Canada and has mutations that help it spread quickly and avoid the body’s immune response.
