In a surprising statement, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that India carried out a missile strike on the Nur Khan airbase in Rawalpindi and other areas. This rare admission came during a speech at a special event in Islamabad, where Sharif revealed that Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, called him at 2:30 am on the night of May 9–10 to inform him about the attack.

Sharif said, “General Asim Munir called me on a secure line and told me that Indian ballistic missiles had hit the Nur Khan airbase and some other sites. I swear to God, there was confidence and patriotism in his voice.”
He added that Pakistan’s Air Force used local technology and advanced equipment on Chinese fighter jets to defend the country.
Earlier on May 10, Pakistan had claimed that three of its airbases — Nur Khan (in Rawalpindi), Murid (in Chakwal), and Rafiqui (in Jhang) — were targeted by Indian missiles and drones. Pakistan military spokesperson Lt. Gen. Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry held an urgent press conference at 4 am to announce the strikes.
Now, satellite images taken by Maxar Technologies show serious damage at multiple Pakistani airbases. These include Nur Khan, Mushaf (in Sargodha), Bholari, and Shahbaz (in Jacobabad). The images from April 25 and May 10 suggest that missile strikes did take place.

This admission is unusual for Pakistan, which usually denies any Indian military action on its soil. The video of Shehbaz Sharif’s speech has gone viral on social media.

In India, political leaders reacted strongly. BJP’s Amit Malviya said, “The Pakistan PM admitted that India bombed their airbases and that he was informed in the middle of the night. This shows how powerful and precise Operation Sindoor was.”
Priyanka Chaturvedi of Shiv Sena (UBT) also criticized Sharif, saying, “It’s deeply satisfying to see someone so clueless while India takes down terror airbases under his watch.”
