After Pakistan carried out attacks on 26 locations along the Line of Control (LoC), India reportedly responded on Saturday by launching missiles at three key Pakistani air bases: Nur Khan, Murid, and Rafiqui. This military action follows rising tensions between the two countries, especially after a deadly terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which killed 26 tourists, including one Nepali national. According to reports, loud explosions were heard at all three air bases following India’s strike.

Nur Khan Air Base, located in Rawalpindi about 10 kilometers from Islamabad, is a major military facility that also includes the former Benazir Bhutto International Airport. It was originally established as RAF Station Chaklala and remains one of Pakistan’s most important air bases. The base also has educational institutions like PAF College Chaklala and Fazaia Inter College for cadet training.

Murid Air Base, near Punjab’s Chakwal District, is another significant site, known for housing Pakistan Air Force’s fleet of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), playing a key role in Pakistan’s air defense.

Rafiqui Air Base, situated near Shorkot in the Jhang District, is located around 337 kilometers south of Islamabad. Previously known as PAF Base Shorkot, it was renamed after war hero Sarfaraz Ahmed Rafiqui and features a long runway along with a parallel taxiway used for emergency aircraft landings.

Earlier this week, the Indian Army confirmed that it had detected and engaged multiple Pakistani drones spotted across 26 locations along the LoC. On Thursday, Indian forces also successfully blocked drone and missile attacks on military targets in several cities, including Jammu. These developments signal a sharp escalation in hostilities between the two neighboring countries.
