On World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi planted a Sindoor (vermilion) sapling at his residence in New Delhi. This sapling was a special gift from a group of courageous women he met during his recent visit to Kutch, Gujarat.
These women, known as Viranganas, had shown great bravery during the 1971 war. They had helped rebuild an airfield in Bhuj after it was damaged, aiding the Indian Army. During his visit on May 26, PM Modi met 13 of these women, interacted with them, and promised to plant the gifted sapling at his home.

Fulfilling his promise, PM Modi planted the sapling at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg and shared this moment on social media. He said the plant would be a lasting symbol of the strength and inspiration of India’s women.

The park will cover 8 hectares in Mirzapar village and will be a high-density micro forest, also known as Van Kavach. It will include around 80,000 plants, shrubs, herbs, and climbers of 40 to 45 different species. The park will be divided into sections dedicated to India’s Army, Navy, Air Force, and Border Security Force (BSF).
Forest officer Sandeep Kumar said this park will not only honor the bravery of our armed forces but also promote greenery and environmental awareness.
