Subramanian Sarma’s Promotion: L&T’s Answer to Global Energy Challenges

A New Chapter for L&T

Larsen & Toubro (L&T), one of India’s most respected multinational companies, has made a significant leadership move. Subramanian Sarma, a veteran with over 40 years of experience, has been promoted to Deputy Managing Director (MD) & President, with effect from April 2, 2025. This decision underscores L&T’s commitment to strengthening its leadership team as it eyes global expansion.

A Leader with a Vision

Sarma holds a degree in Chemical Engineering and a master’s from IIT Mumbai. He has been a driving force behind L&T’s Hydrocarbon and Energy businesses. His three decades of experience in the Middle East and deep knowledge of the Oil & Gas value chain have shaped L&T’s success.

S.N. Subrahmanyan, Chairman & Managing Director of L&T, praised Sarma’s contributions. He said, “His leadership has been pivotal in driving innovation and operational excellence. This promotion is well-deserved.”

L&T’s Growth Trajectory

L&T announced Sarma’s promotion along with good financial results. In Q3 FY25, the company’s profit went up by 13.96% to Rs 3,358.84 crore. Its revenue also increased by 17.31% compared to last year, reaching Rs 64,667.78 crore.

To help with its growth plans, L&T’s board agreed to take long-term loans of up to Rs 12,000 crore. This shows the company’s trust in Sarma to lead L&T into a new period of growth.

What’s Next?

With Sarma leading, L&T aims to strengthen its position as a global leader in EPC projects, hi-tech manufacturing, and services. His promotion is not just a milestone for L&T but also a testament to the power of experience and vision in driving corporate success.
