A U.S. government website that used to help people find Covid-19 vaccines, tests, and treatment has now been changed to promote the idea that the virus came from a lab. This was reported by the Associated Press (AP).
The website, covid.gov, now shows a photo of President Donald Trump walking between the words “lab” and “leak,” with a White House banner above. The new version of the site says that Wuhan, China, where Covid-19 was first found, has a lab that worked on viruses but didn’t follow proper safety rules.

The page also blames Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former head of the U.S. infectious diseases institute, for promoting the idea that the virus came from nature instead of a lab.
However, scientists say the origin of Covid-19 is still unknown. Many experts believe it could have spread from animals to humans, like other viruses in the past. But the idea of a lab accident is still possible. A 2023 report by U.S. intelligence said there isn’t enough proof to confirm either theory.

Usually, when a new president takes office, government websites get updated. But AP says this time, the changes are much bigger. Important health info, especially about transgender people, has been removed. Also, the Pentagon deleted some photos that supported diversity and inclusion.
The old version of covid.gov helped people:
- Order free test kits
- Stay updated on vaccinations
- Find early treatment for Covid
- Learn about long Covid
It also said vaccines were the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones.
Covid-19 is still affecting people today. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says about 325 people are dying each week from the virus. As of April 5, less than 25% of adults had received the newest Covid shot. Millions worldwide are still dealing with long Covid, with symptoms like tiredness and brain fog.
