A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 struck Myanmar on Friday, causing strong tremors in Bangkok, Thailand. The quake hit around 1:30 p.m., making buildings sway and triggering alarms in the city. Many people rushed out of high-rise buildings, including apartments and hotels, and gathered in the streets for safety.
According to reports from the U.S. Geological Survey and Germany’s GFZ center for geosciences, the earthquake was shallow, with a depth of just 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). Its epicenter was about 50 kilometers (30 miles) east of Monywa, a city in central Myanmar.

Bangkok, home to over 17 million people, felt the impact strongly. Water was seen spilling out of swimming pools in high-rise buildings as the tremors shook the city. However, there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
There is still no information on the impact of the earthquake in Myanmar, which is currently experiencing a civil war.
