Netflix & Balaji Telefilms Announce Creative Partnership

On Saturday, June 7, 2025, Netflix announced a major creative partnership with Ekta Kapoor’s production company, Balaji Telefilms. The goal of this long-term collaboration is to tell more Indian stories that can be enjoyed by audiences around the world.

Netflix made the announcement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), saying:
“From India, to the world. Netflix and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms are entering a creative collaboration for a new era of Indian stories.”

This new partnership aims to bring fresh, emotional, and culturally rich content to Netflix viewers. It will focus on stories that feel rooted in Indian culture but also appeal to global audiences.

Ekta Kapoor shared her excitement about the collaboration. She said:

“At Balaji Telefilms, storytelling is our core. Working with Netflix, which is known worldwide for great content and constant innovation, is a big moment for us. We look forward to pushing creative boundaries and delivering content that entertains and connects people everywhere.”

What Netflix Says

Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content at Netflix India, also expressed excitement. She said the company wants to serve viewers with a variety of tastes and this collaboration will help bring more unique and rooted Indian stories to the platform.

Stock Market Impact

Following the announcement, Balaji Telefilms’ share price rose by 4.18%, closing at ₹85.94 on Friday, compared to ₹82.49 the day before.

Reactions on Social Media

Social media users were both surprised and excited by the announcement. Some users didn’t expect Netflix and Balaji to partner, while others praised the move.

A popular comment from user MissMalini said:
