As layoffs continue in many industries, people around the world are becoming more worried about losing their jobs because of artificial intelligence (AI). However, LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky believes we shouldn’t only focus on the negative side.

In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Roslansky said that AI will definitely cause major changes and disruption, but it will also create new job opportunities and change the way we work — similar to how the Industrial Revolution changed work in the past.
He explained that this is not the end of jobs, but rather the evolution of work. According to data from LinkedIn, companies are now looking for people who understand AI, can work alongside AI tools, and have skills like prompt engineering (how to ask AI tools the right questions to get useful results).
Roslansky also pointed out that more people will be able to build careers without needing to work for large companies, thanks to the flexibility AI brings. He shared a striking fact: in India, the skills needed for the same job have changed by 40% since 2015, and by 2030, that change could grow to 70%.
His ideas are supported by Reid Hoffman, the co-founder of LinkedIn, who agrees that AI will affect jobs but doesn’t believe it will be as terrible as some people think. He disagrees with the idea that AI is not useful yet. In fact, Hoffman says if people haven’t found AI helpful, they haven’t explored it enough or used it creatively.

Hoffman also shared how he uses AI tools regularly in his life, saying that people should find ways to use AI in areas they care about.
Both Roslansky and Hoffman agree that workers need to stop thinking of jobs as unchanging. Instead, people should keep learning and upgrading their skills to stay ahead in a fast-changing job market
