A UP bride from Prayagraj turned her wedding night into a nightmare when she threatened her groom with a knife, told him she loved another man, and eventually ran away to be with her lover.

Captain Nishad, 26, married Sitara on April 29. By May 2, they had celebrated their wedding reception. But on the very first night, things went terribly wrong.

When Nishad entered the room, he found Sitara sitting silently under a veil, gripping a knife. According to him, she said, “Don’t touch me. I’m Aman’s property. If you try, I’ll cut you into 35 pieces.” Nishad says he froze. He spent the whole night on the sofa, too afraid to sleep.

This went on for three days.

‘She Was Never Mine’
Sitara reportedly stayed awake with the knife each night and only slept after midnight. Nishad remained in fear. Finally, on May 3, he told his mother. The family confronted Sitara, and she admitted it all — she was in love with Aman and had been forced into the marriage.

She said Aman was the only one allowed to spend the wedding night with her.

Families Tried To Fix It

A formal meeting was held with local elders on May 25. A written agreement was signed. Sitara promised to stay. But behind closed doors, she kept saying she wanted to leave. She even called Aman in front of the family and asked him to take her away.

Nishad’s family was shocked when Aman allegedly replied, “I’ll kill him if I have to.”

The tension in the house kept building. According to the family, Sitara showed WhatsApp chats to prove her love for Aman. Nishad’s sister said they only realised how bad things were when her brother looked traumatised and restless all the time.

The Escape

On May 30, Sitara ran away. The front gate was locked, so she climbed the back wall. CCTV footage shows her limping away around midnight. Nishad’s mother, Shanti Devi, said the family was living in fear every day. “We were scared she might harm herself or my son,” she told News18.

No FIR, Just Relief
Police did not file a case as both families chose a settlement. A written agreement was submitted. Inspector Kishore Gautam confirmed it was treated as a domestic matter.

Now, Captain Nishad says he’s emotionally scarred. “I’ll only marry again if I find someone who understands what marriage means,” he said.

This shocking UP bride case isn’t just viral drama — it shows how forced marriages and hidden relationships can spiral dangerously. Families must listen more and force less. Because one person’s heartbreak almost turned into something far worse.
