Kia Carens Clavis EV

The Kia Carens Clavis EV is ready to hit Indian roads, and it’s bringing some serious power. Set to launch on July 15, Kia has revealed that the Clavis EV will offer a certified range of 490 km on a full charge. That’s a big number for a mass-market EV.

This new electric MPV is Kia India’s first big push into the affordable EV segment. It uses the same 51.4 kWh battery pack as the Hyundai Creta Electric, but surprisingly, it claims more range. The Creta Electric gives only 473 km. That gives Kia a clear edge, at least on paper.

Kia is also expected to offer a smaller 42 kWh battery version, likely with a lower price and shorter range.

Design: Familiar Yet Fresh

The Carens Clavis EV looks a lot like the petrol/diesel version. But some things are different. You won’t find a front grille. Instead, there’s a charging port. The alloy wheels are EV-specific and look a bit more futuristic.

Inside, the layout stays the same. But Kia has added some cool features. Think of a 26.62-inch dual panoramic display, front ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree camera. So yeah, it’s premium without being too flashy.

7-Seater with Tech Power

Only the 7-seater version has been teased so far. We also expect it to offer Level-2 ADAS, a big plus for safety and driving ease. This makes it a serious family car with future-ready tech.

The top variant is expected to be priced under ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom), which would make it a strong option in the market. For comparison, Creta Electric starts at ₹17.99 lakh, going up to ₹24.38 lakh.

Competition is Heating Up

Kia’s main rival here is the upcoming MG Windsor EV, which will be cheaper at ₹14 lakh to ₹18.10 lakh. But the Carens Clavis EV seems to offer more range and tech — something buyers will notice.

Right now, Kia only sells premium EVs like the EV6 and EV9, priced above ₹65 lakh. So the Carens Clavis EV is their big chance to go mainstream.

The Kia Carens Clavis EV is not just another electric car. It’s smart, family-friendly, and has a real-world range that matters. If Kia keeps the price right, it could shake up India’s EV market big time.
