India’s upcoming white-ball cricket tour of Bangladesh, which was supposed to take place in August 2025, has been officially postponed. The decision was made jointly by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

The tour included three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 matches, but now the series will be held in September 2026 instead.

In a statement, the BCCI said, “Both boards have agreed to delay the series due to international cricket schedules and the convenience of both teams. We look forward to playing in Bangladesh in 2026, and the new dates will be shared later.”

This decision came after several weeks of uncertainty. The series was originally part of the ICC’s Future Tours Programme (FTP) and was supposed to begin on August 17, 2025, in Dhaka.

While the boards mentioned scheduling as the main reason, experts believe that rising diplomatic tensions between India and Bangladesh may have also played a role. These tensions began after former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was removed from office in August 2024, leading to political unrest.

India last played against Bangladesh in late 2024 in both red-ball (Test) and white-ball formats. This upcoming white-ball tour was expected to be a major event for Bangladeshi fans, as it would bring a full-strength Indian team to their home ground once again.
