In a disturbing incident that has shocked many, a former sanitation worker in Dharmasthala, Karnataka, has claimed he was forced to bury several dead bodies secretly over many years.
The man, who worked as a sanitation worker between 1995 and 2014, recently filed a written complaint on July 3 with the Dharmasthala police and the superintendent of police. He stated that he was made to bury the bodies of people who were murdered.
As part of his complaint, the man submitted photocopies of photographs showing a human skull and bones he claims to have dug up from one of the old burial sites. He said he did this to prove that his story is true.
To protect his identity, police have not shared his personal details. The man has also asked for legal protection for himself and his family. He said he’s ready to reveal the names of the people involved in the crimes and show police where the bodies are buried — but only if he and his family are kept safe.
According to police, the man’s lawyer has also submitted a written statement saying that sketches of the victims will be shared with the court later. However, the police are still verifying whether the bones found are real and how many victims might be involved.
This shocking claim has disturbed the peace of Dharmasthala, a place better known for its religious and spiritual importance than criminal cases.
The former worker, now feeling guilty and afraid for his life, has reportedly left Dharmasthala with his family and is hiding in another state.
Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Dr Arun K confirmed that the man said he was forced to dispose of bodies linked to criminal activities. The man is now ready to help in the investigation if the authorities provide him and his family with protection.
