India has just received its second GE-404 engine for the homegrown Tejas Mk-1A fighter jet. This is a big step forward for the Indian Air Force (IAF) and for Make-in-India in defence.

GE-404 Engine Delivery Boosts Tejas Jet Production

On Monday, officials confirmed that the United States sent the second GE-404 engine for the LCA Tejas Mk-1A. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will now fit this engine into the Indian fighter jet.

HAL is set to receive 12 more GE-404 engines by March 2026. These will power the advanced LCA Mk-1A jets that the Indian Air Force has already ordered.

What Makes Tejas Mk-1A So Special?

The Tejas Mk-1A is not just any fighter jet. It is India’s own aircraft, built with modern technology and combat power. It comes with:

  • AESA radar
  • Smart avionics
  • Improved targeting
  • Better self-protection

It’s lighter, faster, and made to match the best in the world.

India Orders 83 Jets, Plans 97 More

The Indian Air Force has placed an order for 83 LCA Mk-1A jets. That’s not all. A proposal for 97 more Tejas jets is already in the pipeline and close to approval from the Defence Ministry.

Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh also shared that engine supplies from the US have now resumed. From now until March 2026, General Electric (GE) will deliver two GE-404 engines per month.

A Proud Moment for Indian Defence

This update is more than just a delivery. It shows India’s growing strength in defence. The Tejas Mk-1A is not only made in India but also built to defend India with confidence.

With the US helping with engine supplies and HAL speeding up production, the Tejas Mk-1A will soon fill the skies with pride.
