Another powerful chapter in the spiritual journey to Amarnath begins. On July 25, the 23rd batch of pilgrims left from Jammu to the holy cave shrine in the Himalayas.
A total of 2,896 devotees began their sacred journey from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu. The group included 2,505 men and 314 women, traveling in 117 vehicles between 3:30 am and 4:18 am.
Two Routes, One Destination
The pilgrims are heading to the Amarnath cave through two routes:
- Baltal Route: The shorter, tougher 14-km climb in Ganderbal district. The first convoy carried 790 pilgrims in 42 vehicles.
- Pahalgam Route: The longer, scenic 48-km path through Anantnag district. The second convoy carried 2,106 pilgrims in 75 vehicles.
Both routes lead to the sacred ice lingam inside the Amarnath cave, believed to represent Lord Shiva. The yatris were given full CRPF and J&K Police escort for safety.
23 Days, Over 1.3 Lakh Devotees
Since the Amarnath Yatra 2025 began on July 2, flagged off by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, over 1,36,774 pilgrims have left from the Jammu base camp.
Despite the tough terrain, rains, and high altitude, the number of yatris keeps rising. This shows how strong the faith is among the devotees.
Every year, thousands come to seek blessings at Amarnath, where the natural ice formation is believed to appear and disappear with the phases of the moon. It’s not just a trek. It’s an emotion.
Last year, over 5.10 lakh people completed the pilgrimage. This year, the numbers are expected to cross that.
The Amarnath Yatra 2025 will end on August 9, which is also Raksha Bandhan, adding a special meaning to the final day.
Spirit Stronger Than Terrain
The visuals of pilgrims chanting, climbing, and walking in unity are a proud reminder that faith in India is still alive and rising. It’s not just about religion. It’s about resilience, discipline, and belief.
As each batch moves forward, they carry not only their prayers but also the hopes of a billion Indians. The government, army, and police together ensure the journey is safe, secure, and successful.
