Jackie Shroff, one of the most popular actors of the 1990s, is now living a luxurious life. But his journey to success was filled with struggles.

33 Years in a Chawl

Before becoming a big star, Jackie lived in a small room in a Mumbai chawl (a type of old housing society) in Teen Batti for 33 years. Life was tough — he slept on the floor, faced rats and even saw a snake in his room. In an interview with Ranveer Allahabadia (Beer Biceps), Jackie shared that he used to eat food sitting on the floor while his mother cooked. He said these memories are still fresh in his mind.

“Once a rat bit me and my mom. I also saw a snake in the room,” he recalled.

He Tried to Buy His Old Room Back

Even after becoming a star, Jackie still has an emotional connection to his old home. In an interview, he said he wanted to buy back his old room in the chawl, but the landlord refused. Jackie offered to pay whatever rent the current tenants are paying, but the landlord still said no.

“I told him I won’t run away with the room,” Jackie said.

Now Lives in a Rs 31 Crore Home

Today, Jackie lives in a luxurious, sea-facing apartment in one of Mumbai’s costliest areas. The house is worth Rs 31 crore and was designed by actor John Abraham’s architecture firm.

Net Worth of Rs 212 Crore

According to a Celebrity Net Worth report shared by GQ, Jackie’s total net worth is now around Rs 212 crore.

Film Career Took Off in 1983

Jackie began his career with a small role in the 1982 film Swami Dada. But it was the 1983 film Hero, directed by Subhash Ghai, that made him an overnight star. He later acted in many hit films like Parinda, Ram Lakhan, Rangeela, and Tere Meherbaniyan.

Still Active in Films

Jackie Shroff is still working in the film industry. Recently, he appeared in Housefull 5 and Tanvi The Great. His upcoming films include Welcome to the Jungle (with Akshay Kumar) and Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.
