A 21-year-old man from Telangana’s Siddipet district died by suicide after his parents, who work as farm laborers, couldn’t buy him a BMW car.

The young man had studied only up to Class 10 and was helping his parents on their farmland. According to the police, he had been upset recently and was also addicted to alcohol.

His parents own two acres of land and have limited income. He had stopped studying and was unemployed. He wanted to live a luxurious life with a modern house and a BMW car. He had been asking his parents to buy him the car for some time and even threatened to end his life if they didn’t.

His father tried to make him understand that they couldn’t afford such an expensive car and instead offered to buy him a Maruti Swift Dzire. On Friday, the father and son went to a car showroom in Siddipet. When the man found out he was getting a Swift Dzire and not a BMW, he became disappointed and upset.

Later that day, around 3:30 pm, he tried to take his own life and informed his father. His father and elder brother quickly took him to a government hospital on their bike. He was later shifted to RVM Hospital for better treatment, but he passed away on Saturday night.

The police have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which deals with suicide cases, and are investigating the matter.
