
A terrible road accident happened on Wednesday evening near Jejuri on the Jejuri-Morgaon road in Pune, Maharashtra. Nine people lost their lives, including a six-year-old boy and a woman. The accident involved a car and a pickup truck.
What Happened?
The crash took place around 6:45 pm outside a hotel. The hotel owner and his staff were unloading a refrigerator from a pick-up truck parked outside the hotel. At that moment, a speeding car with six passengers suddenly lost control, veered off the road, and crashed into the pick-up truck.

According to the police, five people standing near the pick-up truck – the hotel owner, the pick-up driver, and three helpers – were hit and killed. Four people from the car, including the young boy and a woman, also died. Two more passengers from the car, a woman and her daughter, were seriously injured and taken to the hospital.
PM Modi’s Response
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep sorrow over the accident. His official handle on X (formerly Twitter) posted,
“Deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to a road accident on the Jejuri-Morgaon road in Pune. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon.”
The Prime Minister also announced financial support:
- ₹2 lakh will be given to the families of each person who died.
- ₹50,000 will be given to each of the injured.

Police Investigation
Police are still investigating what caused the car to suddenly go off the road. Deputy Superintendent of Police Tanaji Barade said they are looking into all possible reasons behind the crash.
This tragic incident has deeply shocked the local community and raised concerns about road safety in the area.
