The Mysterious Disappearance of Sudiksha Konanki: A Spring Break Mystery

Who is Sudiksha Konanki?

Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old Indian-origin student and a permanent resident of the United States, was enjoying her spring break in the Dominican Republic with five college friends. A student at the University of Pittsburgh, Sudiksha was last seen on March 6 at the Riu Republic Resort in Punta Cana.

What Happened?

On March 6, Sudiksha vanished under mysterious circumstances. Surveillance footage shows her staying behind on the beach with a man, identified as Joshua Ribe, while her friends left around 6 am. Hours later, Ribe was seen leaving the beach alone, and Sudiksha was nowhere to be found.

When Did It Happen?

Sudiksha was last seen on March 6, 2025. The day before her disappearance, she made two Venmo payments. The first, at 2:54 pm, included a sailboat emoji, and the second, at 3:38 pm, was sent to “Coco Bongo,” a famous nightclub.

Where Did It Happen?

The incident took place at the Riu Republic Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The Armed Forces of the Dominican Republic have been conducting search operations, including drone surveillance, to locate Sudiksha.

Why Is This Case So Intriguing?

The case has garnered attention due to the mysterious Venmo payments and the involvement of Joshua Ribe, who was the last person seen with Sudiksha. Although Ribe is not considered a suspect, he is a person of interest in the ongoing investigation.

How Are Authorities Responding?

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, along with the FBI and Dominican Republic authorities, are working together to find Sudiksha. Her family, residing in a Washington, DC suburb, is anxiously awaiting any news.

The Venmo Clues

According to a New York Post report, Sudiksha made two Venmo transactions just 40 minutes apart on March 5. The first payment, made at 2:54 pm, was to an unspecified user and included a sailboat emoji in the description. The second transaction, at 3:38 pm, was directed to “Coco Bongo,” a renowned nightclub in Punta Cana. This second payment was to Ananya Chilakamarai, one of Konanki’s friends on the trip.

Joshua Ribe: A Person of Interest

US authorities have identified 24-year-old Joshua Ribe as a person of interest in Sudiksha’s disappearance. Ribe was seen with Sudiksha at the resort before she went missing. While he is not considered a suspect, investigators are keen to understand his last interactions with her.
