2025 Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport Revealed with Updates

Toyota has unveiled the updated 2025 version of its Corolla Cross SUV, along with a new and sportier GR Sport variant. This marks the second facelift for the Corolla Cross in two years and the first time the model gets a GR Sport version, which brings both cosmetic and performance enhancements.

The 2025 Corolla Cross receives minor exterior changes, including new LED headlights and tail-lamps with updated DRL (Daytime Running Light) signatures. The front now features a redesigned bumper with a mesh grille and an illuminated bar connecting the headlights, with the Toyota logo at the center. The side profile remains largely unchanged, except for new 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that give it a refreshed look.

Inside, the changes are subtle but practical. The centre console has been redesigned and is now larger, offering more storage space, including a sliding storage box and a dedicated smartphone area. The air conditioning controls and gear shift knob have been updated, while existing features such as the 10.5-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, heated steering wheel, and Level 2 ADAS remain the same.

Mechanically, the Corolla Cross continues with the same hybrid powertrains: a 140hp, 1.8-litre hybrid (Hybrid 140) and a 197hp, 2.0-litre hybrid (Hybrid 200). The 2.0-litre version also offers an all-wheel drive (AWD) option, which now includes a Snow mode for improved traction in slippery conditions. Toyota claims the Hybrid 140 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds, while the Hybrid 200 takes 7.6 seconds (FWD) and 7.5 seconds (AWD).

The newly introduced GR Sport variant stands out with a more aggressive design and sporty touches. It features all-black 19-inch alloy wheels, sharper front styling, and an exclusive Storm Grey and black dual-tone paint job. GR branding is present on both the front grille and the tailgate. Inside, the GR Sport comes with Brin-Naub upholstery, a suede-like synthetic leather, enhanced by red contrast stitching and GR logos. The suspension has been lowered by 10mm, and the Sport mode in the e-CVT gearbox has been tuned for a more dynamic driving experience.

Initially, Toyota had considered launching the Corolla Cross in India by June 2026, with local production planned at its Karnataka plant. Known internally as the Toyota C SUV, it shared the same TNGA-C platform as the Innova Hycross. However, Toyota has now shelved those plans due to low projected sales volumes, which made the launch commercially unfeasible.

In summary, the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross brings subtle but useful design updates, while the new GR Sport variant adds a bold and sporty edge. Unfortunately, Indian customers will not see this SUV on local roads, as Toyota has decided not to bring it to the Indian market.
