Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal has surprised everyone again—but this time, by staying put. Just months after seeking a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to leave Mumbai and play for Goa, the young India Test opener has now withdrawn that request. He will continue playing for Mumbai in the upcoming domestic season.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) confirmed the news on Monday. The decision came just before the 2nd Test between India and England, where Jaiswal is expected to play a key role.

The Initial Shock Move

Back in April, Yashasvi Jaiswal had shocked the domestic cricket world. He wrote to the MCA, asking for an NOC to switch states. According to sources, he was planning to shift to Goa and was even lined up to lead their side.

MCA accepted his request. It looked like Jaiswal was all set to begin a new chapter outside Mumbai.

But Why The Change of Heart?

In May, the 23-year-old changed his mind. In a heartfelt letter to the MCA, he explained the reason.

“I had some family plans of shifting to Goa, which are now cancelled,” Jaiswal wrote.

He also confirmed that he never submitted the NOC to the BCCI or to the Goa Cricket Association.

MCA Welcomes Him Back

On Monday, the MCA apex council approved his withdrawal.

“Yashasvi is a proud product of Mumbai cricket. He will continue to be available for the upcoming season,” said MCA president Ajinkya Naik.

Fans in Mumbai couldn’t be happier. After all, Jaiswal is one of the brightest stars from their setup.

Jaiswal vs Shaw: A Tale of Two Moves

Interestingly, another Mumbai cricketer, Prithvi Shaw, also asked for a NOC recently. Unlike Jaiswal, Shaw’s request to move to another state was approved. The contrast between the two young stars adds a new layer of drama to Mumbai’s domestic scene.

What’s Next for Mumbai Cricket

With Jaiswal back, Mumbai cricket looks stronger. The popular Dr HD Kanga League is also making a comeback from July 20. The MCA announced that they are restoring the league’s original format.

Also, a new cricket committee for differently-abled players will be set up soon, showing the MCA’s broader vision.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s decision is not just about staying in Mumbai. It’s a loud message: loyalty and legacy matter. And in Indian cricket, stories like these always hit home.
