India’s rising cricket star,  Vaibhav Suryavanshi, is once again in the spotlight. Just a few days ago, he said he wanted to score 200 runs in a match. Now, he’s impressed fans again with another confident performance in the fifth Youth ODI against England U19 at Worcester on Monday.

In the previous match (fourth ODI), Vaibhav had smashed a record-breaking 52-ball century. This time, he scored a solid 33 runs from 42 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes. His innings gave India a strong start before he got out in the 15th over to Sebastian Morgan, with the team score at 60.

After his dismissal, India lost a few quick wickets, but RS Ambrish (66 runs) and Kanishk Chouhan (24 runs) helped the team reach a total of 210/9 in 50 overs, a good score to defend.

Even though this wasn’t Vaibhav’s highest score, his performance showed maturity and a strong desire to do well. He became a national sensation earlier after scoring a century in the IPL 2025, and now he’s being seen as the future of Indian cricket.

His comment about scoring 200 came after watching Shubman Gill’s 269-run knock at Edgbaston, which deeply inspired him. “Even after scoring 100 and 200, Gill kept going. I also wanted to bat longer, but I missed one shot and got out,” Vaibhav shared in a video by BCCI.

He also mentioned that he didn’t know he had broken the Youth ODI century record until the team manager told him.

Even though he didn’t score big in this match, Vaibhav’s determination and fearless attitude were clear. With India already leading the series 3-1, fans are excited to see if he can achieve his dream of a double century soon.
